Installation Notes for the
                            ADIT mmCIF input tool
                                  

This version of ADIT is being distributed as a source library with a 
set of example programs.  

To build ADIT do the following:
a.  Unbundle this distribution using the following:

          zcat mmcif-input-tool-vxxx-prod.tar.Z | tar -xf -

    This will create a directory named mmcif-input-tool--vxxx-prod. 
    Move into this directory.    

b.  Check that there is a machine dependent makefile for your system in
    ./etc subdirectory.   Build the ADIT by typing:

               make

c.  The binaries produced with this source distribution replace
    the cgi-bin binaries in the ADIT binary distribution,
    /wwwadit/cgi-bin/adit/*.   You will need to download the
    binary distribution at least once to create the structure
    of the ADIT web application tree.
